Samsung is about to unveil a bunch of cool stuff at their summer event, like the fancy folding/flip phones (Z Fold6 & Z Flip6) and a new smartwatch (Watch 7). But the real showstopper might be the Galaxy Ring, a brand new smart ring.
We first saw the Galaxy Ring back in January, and Samsung promised it would be out by the end of the year. No price tag then, but rumors placed it around $300-$350. Now, a leak suggests a much steeper price – €449 (around $485) and a July 19th release. That’s way more than other smart rings, like the Oura Ring which starts at $299. There might even be a subscription fee on top, just like with the Oura Ring.
This high price tag could be a mistake, but hey, it’s Samsung, and they do love their premium products. Plus, they probably poured a lot of money into developing this thing. There’s also a chance the price will be different in the US compared to Europe. We’ll have to wait and see what they announce on July 10th.
If the Galaxy Ring takes off, Samsung might make a version 2.0. And guess what? They might be thinking about adding a tiny screen!
A screen sounds cool, right? Imagine checking your heart rate or messages without pulling out your phone. But here’s the thing – smart rings are supposed to be subtle, like regular jewelry. A screen might ruin that whole “in disguise” thing. Plus, wouldn’t a screen drain the battery life super fast?
So, the screen idea might just be a maybe, not a guarantee. There are tons of patents that never become real products.
For now, let’s focus on the first Galaxy Ring.
