Samsung appears to be on the brink of expanding its Galaxy Ring lineup with two new, larger sizes. This move, potentially set for an early 2025 release, could significantly broaden the appeal of this innovative piece of tech, making it more accessible to a wider range of users.
Since its launch, the Samsung Galaxy Ring has been offered in nine sizes, ranging from five to 13, catering to a broad but not exhaustive spectrum of finger sizes. This smart ring, which integrates seamlessly with Samsung’s ecosystem through the Samsung Health app, has been praised for its durability, featuring a titanium build with IP68 and 10ATM ratings for water and dust resistance. It provides health metrics like heart rate, stress, and cycle tracking, but unlike its smartwatch counterparts, it doesn’t include features like ECG or sleep apnea detection.

New sizes are coming
Recent leaks and official documents suggest that Samsung is gearing up to introduce two new sizes, 14 and 15, to the Galaxy Ring lineup. According to leaks from the well-known tech leaker Max Jambor and insights from tech news sites like 91mobiles, these new models have been spotted in a Samsung Galaxy Ring user guide under the model numbers SM-Q514 and SM-Q515. These models correspond to listings on certification bodies like NEMKO, indicating that Samsung is in the final stages of preparing these new variants for market release.
The size 14 option will boast an inner diameter of 23 millimeters, while the size 15 will slightly expand this to 23.8 millimeters. Both new sizes will weigh 3.2 grams, slightly heavier than the existing models which range from 2.3 to 3.0 grams. This addition is particularly noteworthy as it aligns the Galaxy Ring more closely with competitors like the Oura Ring, which already offers sizes from four to 15, ensuring a fit for nearly every finger size.
Why size matters in smart rings
The importance of size in smart rings cannot be overstated. A well-fitted ring not only ensures comfort but also accuracy in the health data it collects. To help users find the perfect fit, Samsung, like Oura, provides a sizing kit. Users can order this kit to try on sample rings before committing to a purchase. This step is crucial, as the wrong size can lead to inaccurate data collection or discomfort while wearing the device.
Market impact and user feedback
The introduction of these larger sizes could be a game-changer in the smart ring market. Not only does it open up Samsung’s offering to users with larger fingers, but it also directly addresses one of the common criticisms of wearable tech – the one-size-fits-all approach simply doesn’t work for everyone. Feedback from current users on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) has shown interest and enthusiasm for these new sizes, indicating that there’s a demand for more inclusive sizing options in wearables.
