Samsung’s latest Unpacked keynote pulled back the curtain on its new foldable family, headlined by the Galaxy Z Flip7. Alongside the Z Flip7 FE and the Z Fold7, Samsung positioned its newest compact clamshell as a pocket-sized powerhouse, boasting its largest-ever cover screen, an all-time-strongest battery for the Flip line, and a sleeker profile than ever before. By leaning into AI capabilities baked into Android 16, Samsung bills the Flip7 as an “intelligent pocket-sized companion built for seamless interaction and everyday reliability,” and it certainly lives up to that billing—even before you flip it open.

The headline feature is undoubtedly the new 4.1‑inch Super AMOLED FlexWindow, the largest external display ever seen on a Galaxy Z Flip. With ultra‑thin 1.25mm bezels, it spans edge‑to‑edge across the cover, letting you type quick replies, check calendars, and even summon Google’s Gemini Live AI without ever unfolding the device. Thanks to its Vision Booster enhancements, that same cover screen can hit up to 2,600 nits of peak brightness—more than enough to stay visible outdoors on a sunny afternoon.

While its footprint remains comfortably pocketable, the Z Flip7 has shed bulk: folded, it measures just 75.2 × 85.5 × 13.7 mm and weighs a mere 188g, making it the slimmest Flip yet. Inside that slender frame sits a 4,300mAh battery—the largest battery ever in a Flip, offering around 31 hours of media playback on a single charge. Under the hood, a 3nm–class Exynos 2500 handles everything from day‑to‑day tasks to AI‑driven processes.

Unfolded, the Flip7 reveals a 6.9‑inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display. That 21:9 panel runs at up to 120Hz and, like its counterpart on the cover, can peak at 2,600 nits—ideal for HDR content or high‑brightness shooting outdoors. Samsung’s revamped Armor FlexHinge is thinner than before yet reinforced with high‑strength materials and an Armor Aluminum frame, complemented by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on both cover and back, promising smoother folds and everyday durability.

Photography duties are handled by a dual‑camera array: a 50MP wide shooter paired with a 12MP ultra‑wide lens, with Samsung’s signature real‑time filters and improved HDR in tow. On the selfie front, a 10MP under‑display snapper captures clean self‑portraits. And for those craving a desktop experience, the Flip7 marks the franchise’s DeX debut—just flip it open, plug into a compatible monitor, and you’ve got a PC‑like workstation at your fingertips.

Baked into One UI 8 on Android 16, Galaxy AI features like Gemini Live bring true multimodal assistance to the Flip7’s cover screen. You can tap into voice‑driven tasks—setting reminders, hunting down nearby eateries, or even pointing the cover camera at an object to get real‑time info—without ever unfolding your phone. Samsung’s Now Bar and Now Brief widgets keep context‑aware updates front and center, making glancing at notifications or quick AI summaries feel almost magical.

Pre‑orders in the U.S. kick off immediately, with general availability slated for July 25. The standard Z Flip7 starts at $1,099.99 for the 256GB model, with a 512GB tier available for a premium. Color options on shelves include Jet Black, Blue Shadow, and Coral; Samsung.com adds a Mint exclusive for early buyers. If you’re on a tighter budget, the Z Flip7 FE starts at $899.99 with 128GB (256GB optional), trading the edge‑to‑edge FlexWindow for a 3.4‑inch cover screen and sticking with an Exynos 2400 chip—essentially a Flip6 spec‑swap in new clothing.
