The new Rakuten Kobo Clara 2E eReader has fascinating features and is made from 85% recycled plastic and 10% plastic from the ocean. Given that it is waterproof and the first six-inch reader to receive an IPX 8 grade, it can be dipped in fresh water for 60 minutes without losing functionality.

Readers may buy and listen to audiobooks thanks to a new Kobo Audiobook store that has been integrated into the Kobo Bookstore.

The Kobo Clara 2e features a 6-inch E INK Carta 1200 touchscreen display with a resolution of 1448×1072 with 300 PPI. The screen lacks glass and has a slight dip in it rather than being flush with the bezel. Since the exposed e-paper won’t reflect light, it will be ideal for reading outside.

The ComfortLight PRO adjustable brightness and color temperature system will allow you to read at night.

Underneath the hood is a 1GHz dual-core processor and 512MB of RAM. There is 16GB to house ebooks and Kobo Audiobook. WiFi 802.11 ac/b/g/n will be available for online connectivity, while Bluetooth will be the only audiobook listening option.

This is the first Clara model with USB-C, allowing customers to charge the reader or transfer digital content from their computer to it. Since it has an IPX 8 rating and a 1,500 mAh battery, you can read without worrying about getting wet in the shower or on the beach. It will be water-resistant for roughly 60 minutes in fresh water.

The Kobo Clara 2E supports 10 fonts and over 50 sizes. Since it has native support for so many various formats, including EPUB, EPUB3, PDF, CBZ, CBR FlePub, and MOBI, you may buy books from the Kobo Store or sideload them on your own. The Kobo Store is the only place through which users may purchase audiobooks.

Kobo Clara 2E price & availability

The new Kobo Clara 2E is now available for pre-order at $129.99 in the United States, CAD$159.99 in Canada, £129.99 in the United Kingdom, and €149,99 in Europe and select countries and will be available to customers from September 22nd, 2022. Optionally, customers can add SleepCover for $29.99/CAD$34.99/£24.99/€29.99 which is available in Black, Sea Glass Green, and Coral Reef Orange.

And don’t forget the 30-day trial of Kobo Audiobooks ($9.99 after the 30-day trial, cancel it anytime) which you can access & listen to on the go anywhere with the free Kobo App.
