The long-awaited trailer for Project Hail Mary has finally landed, and it’s already stirring up excitement among sci-fi fans. Based on Andy Weir’s bestselling novel, the film stars Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace, a lone astronaut who wakes up millions of miles from Earth with no memory of how he got there. As the trailer teases, Grace slowly pieces together his mission: a desperate attempt to save humanity from extinction. It’s a mix of survival drama, scientific ingenuity, and unexpected companionship—hallmarks of Weir’s storytelling that made The Martian such a hit. And with Phil Lord and Christopher Miller directing, the adaptation promises both spectacle and heart.

Amazon is giving Prime members a special treat: exclusive early screenings on March 16, four days before the film’s nationwide release on March 20. Tickets go live on February 20 through Fandango, but there’s a catch—they’re only available to Prime members. The screenings aren’t just early; they’re premium. Think IMAX, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, and even 70MM. It’s clear Amazon wants fans to experience Gosling’s interstellar journey in the most immersive way possible.

This move fits neatly into Amazon’s strategy of making Prime more than just fast shipping. It’s about perks that feel exclusive, whether that’s early access to blockbuster films or streaming originals. For Project Hail Mary, the timing couldn’t be better: the book’s fanbase is massive, and the film’s creative team has a proven track record of turning science-heavy stories into mainstream hits. By offering Prime members a first look, Amazon is betting on buzz—those early audiences will be the ones posting reactions, fueling anticipation, and setting the tone for the film’s wider release.

The trailer itself leans into the tension of Grace’s predicament. We see flashes of isolation, the vastness of space, and the creeping realization that the fate of humanity rests on one man’s shoulders. Gosling’s performance looks restrained but intense, a good fit for a character who has to rely on intellect and grit rather than bravado. And while the trailer doesn’t give away too much, it hints at the kind of emotional beats that made The Martian resonate—moments of humor, ingenuity, and the fragile hope of survival against impossible odds.

For fans of big-screen sci-fi, this is shaping up to be one of 2026’s most anticipated releases. Between the pedigree of the source material, the star power of Gosling, and the directing duo’s knack for balancing spectacle with storytelling, Project Hail Mary looks ready to deliver. And if you’re a Prime member, you’ll get to see it before everyone else—on the biggest screens available. That’s not just a perk; it’s a statement about how streaming giants are rewriting the rules of moviegoing.
