The holidays are a sprint of parties, road trips and family reunions — the kind of occasions that reward an impulsive snap you can hand to someone across the table. Right now, if you want one of those snaps to be a physical, honest, slightly imperfect Polaroid, there’s a sale worth knowing about: several retailers are discounting the third-generation Polaroid Now bundles (camera + film), bringing some bundles down into the mid-$100s — a notably low price for an instant kit that includes film so you can start shooting immediately.

Why an instant camera still matters

Smartphones make it trivially easy to collect photos — but they don’t do the same thing as a little square you can hand over, paste in a wallet or pin to a fridge mid-conversation. Instant cameras slow down moments and force small decisions: who gets the print, where it goes, and whether to write a note on the white border. That tactile, social element is the whole point — and it makes an instant camera a surprisingly thoughtful holiday gift. Recent bundle deals that include film mean you don’t have to buy paper separately the first time you test it out.

The market is fluid for Black Friday/Cyber Monday season — Polaroid, Amazon, big retailers and specialty photo shops have been running early sales and bundles. At the time of writing we’re seeing Polaroid Now Generation 3 bundles and starter kits discounted across multiple stores; some bundle listings are hovering in the mid-$100s while camera-only listings appear lower (Polaroid’s site shows camera-only pricing that can dip under $100 during promotions). Prices vary by color, bundle contents and retailer, so expect modest differences and limited stock on the best prices.

What the Polaroid Now (Generation 3) actually brings to the table

On paper, it’s a simple camera, but the Generation 3 model packs a few practical upgrades that matter in real shoots:

  • Two-lens autofocus system / improved ranging sensor. The camera picks between lenses to keep common shooting distances sharp — valuable at crowded gatherings.
  • Built-in tripod mount and self-timer. Useful for group shots or slightly longer exposures without handing the camera to someone else.
  • USB-C rechargeable battery. No more disposable AAs: recharge the camera before a trip and you’re set.
  • Compatibility with Polaroid i-Type and classic 600 film. That keeps your film options flexible and preserves the classic square Polaroid look.

Those are the features that turn an analog novelty into something you’ll actually use at holiday events, not just display on a shelf.

How the bundle helps (and why film matters)

Instant camera bundles usually include a small pack of film (enough for a few dozen shots, depending on pack size). Because film is a recurring cost, bundles that include film give you immediate value: you can start creating physical memories the moment you open the box, rather than waiting for a separate film purchase. Retail bundles differ — some come with single 8-shot packs, others include two packs or an “everything” kit — so check what’s in the box before you buy.

Who this is for

  • Party hosts and family members: Hand a fresh print to someone while the moment is still happening.
  • Gift givers: It’s a small, tactile present that comes with an activity attached.
  • Casual photographers: You don’t need camera experience to enjoy the Now — it’s purposely simple.
  • People who like analog things: It’s about the process and the artifact, not pixel counts.

Alternatives (if you want different formats or prices)

If you’re hunting for a different look or price point, Fujifilm’s Instax line is a strong alternative — it prints smaller, pocket-sized photos and often shows up in competitive holiday bundles. For shoppers who prioritize print size or per-shot cost, compare Instax and Polaroid bundles side by side.

The final frame

If you want to give or keep something that creates an immediate, shareable object — a photo someone can hold — an instant camera is still uniquely good at that job. The Polaroid Now Generation 3 is built to make those moments easier: it’s rechargeable, has better autofocus than past entry models, and comes in bundles that put film on the camera from day one. Black Friday and Cyber Monday season has pushed several bundles into particularly attractive price territory (and camera-only listings have been discounted too), so if you’re after one for a holiday party or a personal tradition, now is a smart time to lock in a deal — just compare bundle contents and retailer return policies before you check out.
