Plugable’s latest charger, the PS-6CC, flips the script on multi‑port charging by shipping without its own power brick. At first blush, a charger that doesn’t include a power supply might seem counterintuitive, but Plugable argues it’s a smart, eco‑friendly move. By leveraging the USB‑C power adapters you already own, the PS‑6CC turns a single brick—rated between 18W and 100W—into a six‑port charging hub, complete with brains to allocate power where it’s needed most.

Last year’s PS‑10CC—a ten‑port USB‑C charger powered by Plugable’s PriorityShare technology—made waves at CES for its ability to juggle multiple devices without breaking a sweat. While power users raved about its capacity, many found a ten‑port charger overkill for daily desk setups. Taking that feedback to heart, Plugable has shrunk the design down to six ports, aiming to marry the same intelligent charging with a smaller footprint that suits home offices, classrooms, and travelers alike.

Rather than bundling another bulky adapter, the PS‑6CC is a shell of charging ports that plugs into any existing USB‑C PD supply. This means you’re free to repurpose adapters from laptops, monitors, or previous chargers—so long as they deliver between 18W and 100W. Not only does this cut down on desk clutter, it trims packaging and e‑waste from your electronic ecosystem. After all, why buy a duplicate brick if you already have one (or two) lying around?.

At its core, the PS‑6CC uses Plugable’s patented PriorityShare system to sense each device’s current draw in real time and feed power from left to right. Plug a laptop into the first port and a phone into the third, and the laptop grabs what it needs first. Once it’s topped off, any reclaimed power cascades downstream to refill lower‑priority gadgets—without ever throttling performance for smaller devices.

Measuring just a hair larger than a paperback novel, the PS‑6CC comes clad in a mix of matte plastic and aluminum. Inside, 50% recycled plastic and 75% recycled aluminum keep it lightweight yet sturdy. A row of bright LEDs above each port shows charging activity at a glance—blink, and you’ll know which devices are juicing up and when they’ve reached full capacity.

Despite its slim profile, the PS‑6CC handles up to 100W of aggregate power, ensuring even power‑hungry laptops get enough juice. On the safety front, it’s third‑party tested for over‑voltage, over‑current, and short‑circuit protection. It can even detect underpowered adapters and flag them, so you won’t accidentally starve a device by plugging into a weaker brick.

By decoupling the charger from its own power brick, Plugable’s newest offering slashes packaging bulk and reduces electronic waste. Users trade one large power adapter for up to six intelligent ports—no extra bricks to manufacture, ship, or recycle. It’s a simple idea with outsized environmental benefits, especially for offices or schools equipping dozens of devices.

The PS‑6CC debuts in North America this month, available direct from Plugable and on Amazon. It carries a list price of $79.95, and an introductory 25% coupon is already live on the product page. If you’re stretched for compatible adapters, Plugable’s 140W GaN charger is offered separately as a go‑anywhere power brick to pair with the six‑port hub.

Whether you’re a digital nomad juggling a laptop, tablet, and phone on the road, a teacher managing a cart of classroom tablets, or simply someone tired of swapping chargers at home, the PS‑6CC delivers smart, flexible power distribution in a compact package. By requiring you to bring your own adapter, it sidesteps the bulk and waste of proprietary bricks—an elegantly simple twist on multi‑port charging that proves less can indeed be more.
