Pinterest yesterday launches a new feature called “Try On” for Home Decor which allows Pinners to shop for the home decor inspiration that they find on Pinterest using augmented reality (AR).

This AR feature will enable Pinners Pinners to virtually place items from the U.S. retailers like Crate & Barrel, CB2, Walmart, West ELm and Wayfair in their home using Pinterest Lens camera to try it before they make the purchase.

According to Pinterest, Try On for Home Decor is currently rolling in the United States on iOS and Android apps and planning to launch globally in the future.

How to use AR Try On for Home Decor:

  1. When browsing home decor products in the iOS [downlaod here] or Android app [downlaod here], three dots will appear in the top right corner of “Try On enabled” Pins.
  2. Click the Pin and “Try in your space” to see the virtual product through your camera lens.
  3. Adjust and place home decor products in your space to envision how they would look, browse product information within the Pin for more details like price.
  4. To shop, click the Pin to be directed to the checkout page on the retailer’s site.
