Opera GX, the web browser designed specifically for gamers, just received a significant upgrade to its built-in AI assistant, Aria. This isn’t just a minor tweak – we’re talking about a whole new set of features that will fundamentally change the way you interact with your browser.

According to Opera’s blog post, these features are all about “buffing up” the capabilities of your browser and giving you more ways to play with it. Buckle up, because we’re diving into image generation, voice output, image understanding, and even smarter chat conversations.

Image Generation

Have you ever wished you could turn your wildest gaming ideas into actual images? Well, with Aria’s new image generation abilities, that dream can become reality. Just like other popular AI tools, Aria can now create images based on your text descriptions.

Imagine describing your ideal fantasy armor set, a futuristic cityscape for your next game level, or even a hilarious meme about your favorite streamer. Aria uses a powerful AI model called Imagen2 to bring your words to life. What’s even cooler is that Aria can learn and improve over time, so you can keep refining your image with follow-up descriptions without starting from scratch. And if you’re not happy with the first result, you can just click “Regenerate” to see different variations based on your original prompt.

Image Understanding

But Aria’s newfound artistic talents aren’t just for creating – she can also understand! Using the upload image feature, you can basically ask Aria anything about a picture you find online. Need help with a tricky math equation you spotted in a study guide? Stuck on some programming code? Upload the image, and Aria will do her best to decipher it for you.

Aria voice output

Getting tired of staring at text on the screen? No problem! Aria can now read her responses out loud using Google’s cutting-edge WaveNet text-to-speech technology. Just click the little speaker icon, and Aria will transform from a silent assistant into your own personal gaming narrator.

Chat summary and links to sources

Ever had a long conversation with Aria and then completely forgotten the key points? Those days are over. Aria can now summarize your entire chat history, making it easy to refresh your memory or share the highlights with your friends.

While you’re chatting with Aria, she’ll also provide links to relevant sources of information so you can do even deeper dives on the topics you’re discussing.
