As smartphone giants like Samsung unveiled their latest and greatest devices last week, smaller rival OnePlus is hoping to grab some of the spotlight. The company recently announced preorder deals for its upcoming flagship phone, the OnePlus 12, giving customers incentives to buy ahead of the February 6th retail launch.
The OnePlus 12 brings some meaningful upgrades over last year’s model, including faster wired and wireless charging, improved water resistance ratings, and camera systems fine-tuned in partnership with venerable photography brand Hasselblad. But the phone’s most intriguing preorder promotion focuses on storage – a vital but often overlooked part of the smartphone spec sheet.
OnePlus, Amazon and Best Buy are offering 512GB variants of the OnePlus 12 with 16GB of RAM for $799.99 to customers who preorder, marking a $100 discount from the eventual retail price. More significantly, that nets buyers double the built-in storage of the standard $799.99 model. OnePlus is effectively allowing early adopters to upgrade from 256GB to 512GB at no extra cost.
OnePlus 12

The OnePlus 12 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform, which provides significant improvements in AI, CPU, and GPU performance. The phone has a large 5400 mAh battery, 80W SUPERVOOC, and 50W AIRVOOC charging, and a Battery Health Engine for long-lasting use. It also features a 120 Hz ProXDR Display with advanced LTPO technology, which offers bright and vibrant visuals even in bright sunlight. The device comes with a 4th Gen Hasselblad Camera System for Mobile, which includes a 50MP Sony’s LYT-808 main sensor and a 64MP 3X Periscope Telephoto Camera. The phone has a new Aqua Touch algorithm for a smoother touch experience and supports 4500 nits peak brightness and 2160 Hz PWM Dimming for improved eye care. Moreover, the OnePlus 12 has received a TÜV SÜD 48-Month Fluency Rating A, ensuring smooth performance over time.
With many smartphone makers still charging exorbitant premiums for storage bumps, OnePlus’ offer stands out as a legitimate value. Photos, videos, apps, and games take up more and more space on phones each year, so having extra built-in capacity can make a difference in daily use. And the high-RAM configuration should keep things running smoothly for years to come as well.
Of course, deals like this are ultimately meant to boost preorder numbers and ensure stock sells out on opening day. But for the consumer, they present rare opportunities to get more for less. If you were already considering purchasing the OnePlus 12 close to launch, it makes very little sense to pass up this 512GB promotion. The $100 savings effectively pay for the upgraded storage outright.
Just don’t wait too long – OnePlus almost certainly set aside limited supply for the preorder configuration. Once the phone hits store shelves on February 6th unpacked from the buzz train, the free storage upgrade will go back to being locked away in the baggage car.
