Popular productivity app Notion is unveiling its own calendar platform called “Notion Calendar” in an effort to centralize scheduling and integrate with its other features.
According to the company, Notion Calendar will connect with users’ existing Notion databases and notes, allowing them to directly create and link relevant documents from within calendar events. This could eliminate the need to search across multiple apps when prepping for meetings.
The new calendar includes functionality carried over from Cron, a calendar app that Notion acquired in 2022. Cron’s features for quickly scheduling meetings and automatically blocking off work and personal events are now part of Notion Calendar.
However, the app will only be available on Mac, Windows, and iOS at launch – with Android support planned for the future. Additionally, it does not yet integrate with Microsoft Outlook, which remains widely used in many businesses.
Notion Calendar reflects the company’s broader ambitions to become an all-in-one productivity platform for teams. With recent launches of AI, messaging, automation and other collaboration features beyond its original note-taking and task management offerings, Notion hopes to become the only software needed for most office work.
The calendar launched as users have long requested better date and scheduling integration. If adoption is strong, Notion may look to further expand its scope – potentially trying to displace other popular digital workplace tools like presentations, spreadsheets and email down the line. For now, workers eager to consolidate multiple productivity apps may find Notion Calendar marks a promising step towards that vision.
