Meta is introducing a spatial measurement tool to its Quest 3 VR headset. The new app, aptly named Layout, allows users to accurately measure objects and spaces within their homes directly through the device.
By leveraging the capabilities of augmented reality, Layout transforms the Quest 3 into a versatile measuring tool. Users can now quickly assess furniture dimensions, room sizes, and even determine the levelness of surfaces, eliminating the need for traditional measuring tapes. Furthermore, the app enables users to visualize potential furniture placements and decor changes within their environment.
This feature is part of a broader Quest 3 update v68 that also includes the integration of Meta’s experimental AI assistant, previously exclusive to Ray-Ban smart glasses. The AI, currently in beta and limited to English-speaking users in the US and Canada, can provide real-time information about the user’s surroundings.
Additional enhancements in the update encompass streamlined game downloads, simplified controller pairing, and refined audio balance controls.
