Meta, the company behind the popular virtual reality (VR) headset, Meta Quest 2, has announced a permanent price cut for the device. As of April 19, 2024, the base headset with 128GB of storage will be available for just $199, down from its previous price of $249. This marks the second time this year that Meta has reduced the price of the Quest 2, following a reduction from $299 to $249 in January.

The price cut comes as Meta prepares to roll out its latest VR headset, the Meta Quest 3, which boasts more powerful features and capabilities than its predecessor. The Quest 3 is priced at $499, suggesting that Meta is looking to clear out its remaining inventory of the Quest 2.

Despite being a previous generation model, the Quest 2 remains a popular choice for those looking to explore the world of VR. The device features fast-switching LCD displays with a resolution of 1832×1920 per eye and a 90Hz refresh rate, making for a smooth and immersive VR experience. The Quest 2 also has a solid library of VR apps and games, as well as access to cloud gaming services like Xbox Cloud Gaming.

In addition to the price cut for the Quest 2 headset, Meta has also reduced the prices of several accessories for the device. The Elite Strap and Elite Strap with Battery have both been discounted by 50 percent, now available for $24.99 (from $49.99) and $44.99 (from $89.99), respectively. The Fit Pack, which allows users to find a more comfortable fit for their headset, has also been reduced to $19.99 (from $39.99). The official carrying case for the Quest 2 has also seen a price drop, from $44.99 to $19.99.

Overall, the price cut for the Meta Quest 2 and its accessories makes the device an even more attractive option for those looking to explore the world of VR. With its fast displays, a solid library of apps, and access to cloud gaming services, the Quest 2 remains a top choice for VR enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
