Meta has rolled out some exciting new features for Messenger that should make your video calls and overall communication experience much smoother and more dynamic. First up, there’s HD video calling. By default, this feature is enabled when you’re connected to Wi-Fi, but if you’re on cellular data, you can activate it manually through the call settings. This should bring better clarity and detail to your video chats.

But it’s not just about sharper video. Messenger also introduces advanced noise suppression, designed to reduce background sounds and focus on your voice. Whether you’re in a noisy cafe or a bustling office, these enhancements should make calls sound much cleaner.

For those who enjoy a bit of flair in their video calls, Messenger is adding AI-generated backgrounds. These are accessible through the effects icon during a call, where you can describe your ideal backdrop, and Meta’s AI will create it for you on the spot. It’s a fun way to personalize your calls—whether you’re hiding a cluttered room or just want to add a creative touch.

Meta isn’t stopping there. They’ve also rolled out voicemail options, allowing you to leave video or audio messages if someone misses your call, which is a convenient touch for staying connected even when you’re not available.

And for those who like hands-free functionality, you can now use Siri to initiate calls or send messages through Messenger. Just say, “Hey Siri, send a message to [contact name] on Messenger,” and you’re good to go, which could be a game-changer when you’re on the move or have your hands full.

With these updates, Messenger is definitely stepping up its game, offering features that are already standard in other apps like Zoom or FaceTime, and bringing them all together in a single platform. Whether you’re looking for better video quality, personalized backgrounds, or just more convenience in managing your communications, these new tools should make Messenger a much more versatile app.
