Mastodon

Mastodon is a decentralized, open-source social network, founded in 2016 and consisting of numerous independent servers (“instances”). Users can interact across instances, but each server has its own rules and moderation. Unlike Twitter, Mastodon uses a chronological feed, not an algorithm. It has gained popularity as an alternative to Twitter, reaching over one million users.
