Marvel Studios has announced an earlier premiere date for its upcoming Echo TV series. Originally scheduled to debut on January 10, the studio revealed in a new trailer on Saturday that all five episodes will now drop on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at 9 pm ET.
The series stars Alaqua Cox reprising her role as Maya Lopez, a deaf Native American superhero who goes by the codename Echo. It marks Marvel’s first live-action TV-MA series on Disney+ as well as the first to release all episodes simultaneously. Echo is also making history as the first Marvel Studios production to premiere on both Disney+ and Hulu.
Echo has been billed as a gritty, street-level action series set in the aftermath of Hawkeye. The show will explore Maya’s origins while focusing on her confrontation with the criminal empire of Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio). The cast also includes Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, and Graham Greene.
With the earlier premiere date, Echo is yet another example of Marvel Studios shaking up its release schedule. Most Marvel shows have debuted on Wednesdays or Fridays, with only She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Loki season 2 opting for Thursdays. The studio’s willingness to experiment likely comes from its success in releasing films and shows across multiple platforms.
So mark those calendars, Marvel fans. We’ll be meeting Echo even sooner than we thought on January 9 across Disney+ and Hulu.
