Marvel Studios today revealed the first official teaser for its upcoming film “Thor: Love and Thunder” which will be coming to the theater this July 8th.

The film finds Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth) on a journey, unlike anything he’s ever faced — a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (played by Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (played by Tessa Thompson), Korg (played by Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (played by Natalie Portman), who — to Thor’s surprise — inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor.

They go on a dangerous cosmic journey together to discover the secret surrounding the God Butcher’s revenge and stop him before it’s too late.

Chris Hemsworth stars alongside Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Jeff Goldblum, Bradley Cooper, and Vin Diesel in the film directed by Taika Waititi, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson.

Waititi also returns as Korg, a Kronan gladiator who befriended Thor in the first film. Asgardian actors Matt Damon, Sam Neill, and Luke Hemsworth reprise their roles as Loki, Odin, and Thor, respectively, from Thor: Ragnarok, plus Melissa McCarthy as Hela and her husband Ben Falcone in an unnamed role. Russell Crowe also appears as Zeus in a cameo role.
