MacPaw has launched a significant update to its popular CleanMyMac software, a tool known for keeping Macs optimized and clutter-free. This latest version comes with a fresh design and several new features aimed at improving both performance and user experience.
The most noticeable change is a streamlined sidebar, now featuring just six key modules to simplify navigation. But this isn’t just a cosmetic upgrade. MacPaw has added a range of new functionalities, including personalized Mac health reports and improved privacy tools. Among the standout features are Smart Care, which bundles system cleanup, protection, and performance tweaks, and a new My Clutter module to help users identify and remove large, old, or duplicate files with ease.

CleanMyMac, originally released in 2008, has grown from a simple cleanup utility to a comprehensive tool for managing Macs, offering everything from system optimization to malware protection. This latest iteration continues that tradition by building on the foundation laid by the CleanMyMac X update from 2018, which introduced real-time monitoring and enhanced malware protection powered by MacPaw’s Moonlock Engine.
The latest version also includes a smarter assistant that offers personalized recommendations based on real-time system health, helping users keep their Macs running smoothly and securely. It’s available on subscription starting at $39.95 per year, with a one-time purchase option also available. Current users of CleanMyMac or Setapp can upgrade for free, while CleanMyMac X license holders are offered discounts.

For businesses, a CleanMyMac Business solution is expected in 2025, giving companies more control over their Mac fleet’s optimization and security. Join the waitlist here.
The update requires macOS 11 or later, continuing MacPaw’s push to ensure CleanMyMac evolves alongside Apple’s operating system updates.
