Consumer electronics giant LG unveiled its latest salvo against rival Samsung this week, debuting a new lineup of 4K computer monitors that aim to one-up Samsung‘s “smart monitor” offerings.
Dubbed the MyView series, LG’s new monitors pack robust productivity and entertainment features into sleek 4K displays, angling to become a should-have desktop accessory for the modern multi-tasking home user.
Arriving in three models — the 32SR85U, 32SR83U and 32SR70U — with screen sizes of 31.5 inches, the MyView monitors all boast 4K resolution with rich colors thanks to LG’s lauded IPS display technology. Each monitor covers 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and is HDR10 compatible, ensuring vivid image quality whether users watch movies, edit photos, or simply browse the web.
Augmenting their visual chops is LG’s acclaimed webOS smart platform, the same software that powers the company’s standalone televisions. With webOS built-in, LG is betting that customers will appreciate accessing popular streaming apps and convenient smart features right from their desktops.

With webOS onboard, users can directly launch Netflix, Disney+, YouTube and other major streaming platforms, alongside handy productivity apps like Microsoft 365 and Google Calendar. Support for Apple’s AirPlay 2 and Miracast even allows quick and cable-free sharing of videos, photos and screens from compatible phones and laptops.
LG’s focus on both work and play is aimed at one-upping Samsung’s rival M8 series of smart monitors, which similarly seek to meld desktop monitors and streaming devices into a single appealing product.
And on paper, it appears LG may have the edge over its crosstown competitor. While Samsung’s M8 monitors utilize VA panel technology optimized for dark room viewing, LG’s IPS screens should provide wider viewing angles and more accurate colors — key advantages for a desktop display. LG is also promising up to 400 nits of brightness across its higher-end MyView models, markedly higher than the typical 250-300 nits offered by the M8 series.
Of course, plenty remains unknown about LG’s new MyView lineup, most notably pricing. LG has yet to announce US pricing details, while Samsung’s 32-inch M8 smart monitor routinely sells for $400 or less — a competitive bar for LG to match.
But with sleek designs, polished smart features and picture quality that early reviews laud as superior to Samsung’s offering, LG appears ready to make significant inroads into the burgeoning smart monitor space. LG’s MyView monitors may soon become the new screens to beat for consumers seeking an all-in-one entertainment and productivity powerhouse for their desks.
