LG is set to expand its Gaming Portal—a dedicated hub for games and streaming services—beyond its current confines. Initially available only on LG smart TVs running webOS 23 and newer, this gaming ecosystem is about to get a major upgrade, promising to bring immersive gaming experiences to a wider range of devices, including smart monitors and the innovative battery-powered LG StanbyME.

For years, smart TVs have been more than just screens for binge-watching shows; they’ve evolved into interactive entertainment hubs. LG’s Gaming Portal, much like Samsung’s Gaming Hub, has been designed to cater to the growing demand for gaming content on living room devices. Currently rolled out in 19 markets, the service aggregates native webOS games and popular titles from cloud gaming powerhouses like NVIDIA GeForce Now, Amazon Luna, Boosteroid, and Blacknut. But LG isn’t stopping there.

In a recent press release, LG announced that later this year, the Gaming Portal will also be available on its smart monitors and the LG StanbyME—a mobile lifestyle screen that’s as stylish as it is functional.

Perhaps the most exciting update for gaming enthusiasts is LG’s plan to integrate Xbox Cloud Gaming into the Gaming Portal. Xbox Cloud Gaming, a key component of Microsoft‘s gaming strategy, has been lauded for bringing console-quality gaming to a variety of devices without the need for high-end hardware. With this integration, every LG device supporting Gaming Portal could effectively double as an Xbox, blurring the lines between traditional console gaming and the flexible, cloud-based future.

This development comes at a time when gamers are increasingly gravitating toward cloud services that offer robust game libraries and the convenience of instant play. By embracing Xbox Cloud Gaming, LG is not only enhancing its platform’s appeal but also positioning itself as a serious contender in the battle for living room gaming supremacy.

One of the standout features of LG’s Gaming Portal is its thoughtful categorization of titles. The platform distinguishes between games that can be played using a remote control and those that require a dedicated game controller. This nuanced approach ensures that casual gamers and die-hard enthusiasts alike can enjoy a seamless gaming experience tailored to their preferences.
