For many internet users, security and privacy are paramount concerns. Especially for those who prioritize open-source solutions, finding a trustworthy VPN can be a challenge.

VPNs, or virtual private networks, encrypt your internet traffic and hide your real IP address. This prevents your internet service provider (ISP) and other third parties from snooping on your online activity. Additionally, VPNs can be used to bypass geo-restrictions, allowing you to access websites that may be blocked in your region.

Internxt, a Spanish company known for its focus on privacy-oriented cloud storage solutions, has recently entered the VPN market with a free offering – Internxt VPN.

One of the major advantages of Internxt VPN is its user-friendliness. Even if you’re new to using VPNs, Internxt’s service is designed for ease of use. There’s no complicated setup process – simply download the Internxt VPN extension from the Chrome Web Store and you’re good to go. Unlike many free VPNs, Internxt doesn’t require any credit card information or even an email address to sign up. Just download and activate the extension, and you can start browsing securely.

Internxt prioritizes user privacy and utilizes strong encryption to protect your data. This ensures that your online activities remain hidden from prying eyes, including hackers, ISPs, and even governments.

While Internxt VPN offers a compelling free service, it’s important to note some limitations at the time of writing. Currently, the service only provides access to a single server location – Bexley, England. It’s possible that Internxt may expand to include additional server locations in the future, such as the USA, Singapore, Africa, and Asia. However, there is no official confirmation from Internxt regarding these potential expansions.

Another point to consider is that Internxt VPN is currently only available as a Chrome extension. This means that users of other browsers like Firefox or Safari will need to wait for compatible versions to be released.

Despite these limitations, Internxt VPN presents a promising option for users who value online privacy and security. With its free, no-signup approach and strong encryption, Internxt offers a simple way to protect your online activity. While the limited server location and browser support might be drawbacks for some users, Internxt’s commitment to privacy and its plans for future expansion make it a service worth keeping an eye on.
