Ever get the feeling Instagram adds a new sticker like, every other week? Yeah, us too. And guess what? They might be cooking up another one, and this time it’s a head-scratcher.
Alessandro Paluzzi, a tech wiz who loves to spill the beans on upcoming features, spotted something interesting in Instagram’s code: a sticker simply named “WhatsApp.” He even shared a screenshot on X (formerly Twitter) to prove it.
So, what does this WhatsApp sticker do? Honestly, nobody knows yet. It seems like you’ll be able to find it hanging out with all the other stickers whenever you’re making a Story, Reel, or Post. But what it actually does when you tap it? Your guess is as good as ours.
Here’s the thing that makes this even more confusing: Paluzzi also found clues that Instagram might be working on a way to share your Stories directly on WhatsApp. Could these two things be connected? Maybe! But it’s way too early to tell for sure.
One thing we do know is that if this WhatsApp sticker rolls out, it’ll be joining a whole party of other interactive stickers that Instagram released recently. Remember those fun ones from earlier this year like “Add Yours Music,” “Frames,” “Cutouts,” and “Reveal”? Yeah, those guys.

These interactive stickers are all about getting your friends involved in your Stories. Like that “Frames” sticker that makes people shake their phones to see your pic? Hilarious, right? And there’s even a sticker from last year that lets you create templates for Stories that other people can use. Pretty cool!
So, this whole WhatsApp sticker situation just adds another layer of mystery to the world of Instagram. We have no idea what it does, but it hints that Instagram and WhatsApp, both owned by the same company, Meta, might be getting even more connected in the future. Maybe it’ll make it easier to chat with your friends about your Stories? Or maybe it’s something totally different. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see what Instagram has up its sleeve!
