With the rise of short-form video content, discovering new music has become as easy as scrolling through your feed. Apps like TikTok and Instagram have become go-to platforms for discovering fresh tracks, thanks to how often trending videos feature catchy tunes. Now, Instagram is stepping up its game by making it even easier to get those tunes into your personal music library.
Instagram has begun rolling out a new integration with Spotify that allows users to add songs directly from Instagram posts and Reels to their Spotify library. If you stumble across a song you like in a post or Reel, and the track is linked at the bottom of the screen, all you have to do is tap the song name. This will take you to an audio preview page, and from there, you’ll notice a new button labeled “Add” with a Spotify logo next to it. One tap on this, and the song will be instantly added to your “Liked Songs” playlist on Spotify.

For first-time users, linking your Spotify account with Instagram is required. Once you’ve done that, though, adding songs becomes a seamless, one-tap experience. The feature is currently being rolled out globally, meaning if you don’t see it yet, it’s on the way.
While Instagram’s integration is new, it’s worth noting that TikTok already rolled out a similar feature last year. TikTok’s version allows users to not only add songs to Spotify but also to other streaming services like Apple Music and Amazon Music. The competition between social platforms to make music discovery seamless has only heated up, but for the average user, this means more ways to easily discover, share, and save tracks in their favorite streaming app.
This new Instagram-Spotify collaboration could be a game changer for music lovers who often stumble upon great songs while scrolling. It’s another step toward making music discovery and streaming more integrated across our most-used platforms. So, next time you’re scrolling through Reels and hear a tune you love, just hit that “Add” button, and it’s yours to enjoy later.
