If you’re using your Chromebook, maybe you’ve gone all-in on its touchscreen functionality, or maybe the physical keyboard decided to take a little vacation. Either way, you’re left needing that trusty on-screen keyboard. The good news: enabling it is super simple and takes less than a minute.
How to enable the on-screen keyboard on Chromebooks
- Click on the time in the lower right corner of your screen. Yes, that little area where the time, Wi-Fi, and battery icons hang out.
- Tap the Settings icon (it looks like a little gear) to open the Settings menu.
- In the Settings menu, look for “Accessibility” on the left side. It’s a handy section filled with features that make your Chromebook easier to use.
- Once you’re in the Accessibility settings, find “Keyboard and Text Input” on the right. This section has everything you need to tweak how your keyboard behaves.
- Finally, you’ll see a toggle next to “On-screen keyboard.” All you have to do is switch it on. Voila! Your on-screen keyboard is now active and ready to roll.
Now, whether your keyboard is acting up, or you just prefer the touchscreen life, you’re all set. Happy typing!
