Google‘s latest flagship, the Pixel 9 Pro, is here, and it’s packing some serious upgrades. But is it worth the extra cash? Let’s break it down.

One of the biggest changes this year is the introduction of two Pixel 9 Pro models. You can now opt for either a 6.3-inch or a 6.8-inch screen. That’s right, Google is offering a larger Pro model without forcing you to sacrifice the smaller form factor. A bold move that should please a wider range of users.

Both Pro models come with a significant boost in RAM, now at 16GB, and storage options that max out at a whopping 1TB. The displays are brighter and have a wider refresh rate range for smoother scrolling. And let’s not forget the camera improvements. The telephoto lens has been upgraded, and the front-facing camera is sharper with a wider field of view. For video enthusiasts, there’s an 8K “Video Boost” option.

Here’s where you can preorder the Google Pixel 9 Pro

The Pixel 9 Pro starts at $999, while the larger XL model comes in at $1,099. Both are available for preorder at Google Store, Amazon, Best Buy, and Target. The smaller model ships on September 4th, while the XL arrives on August 22nd.

To sweeten the deal, Google is offering $200 in Google Store credit or a $200 gift card from Amazon or Best Buy with your purchase. However, it’s worth noting that the top-tier storage option and a specific color are exclusive to certain models.

Is it worth it?

The Pixel 9 Pro is undoubtedly a powerful device with impressive specs and camera capabilities. However, the price tag is steep, especially compared to last year’s model. If you prioritize a larger screen and the latest features, the XL might be worth the extra hundred bucks. But if you’re happy with a smaller phone, the standard Pixel 9 Pro could be a better fit.

Ultimately, the decision comes down to your personal preferences and budget. If you’re an avid photographer or videographer who demands the best, the Pixel 9 Pro might be worth the investment. But for those who prioritize value, there are other excellent options on the market.
