Google Meet, the popular video communication platform integrated into Google Workspace, has introduced an innovative feature aimed at enhancing user convenience during calls. This new capability allows users to effortlessly transition a call between different devices without disruptions. Available across PC, iOS, and Android platforms, the feature is now being rolled out to Google Workspace users, including those with personal Google accounts.
In a recent update detailed on the Google Workspace blog, Google explained the functionality: “Beginning today, you can smoothly transfer between devices while on a Google Meet call without hanging up and rejoining.” This means that users can seamlessly shift their ongoing Meet call from one device to another, catering to various scenarios encountered in professional and personal settings.
For instance, if you’re engaged in a Meet call on your mobile device or tablet and then move to your desktop, you can now switch the call to your laptop without interruption. This fluid transition is facilitated by a straightforward option presented within the Meet interface.
During an ongoing call, users will notice a “Switch here” prompt when attempting to join the meeting on another device. By selecting this option, the call seamlessly transitions to the new device, ensuring continuity and eliminating the need to disconnect and reconnect manually.

Moreover, Google Meet now supports simultaneous participation in a meeting from multiple devices. This means that users can actively engage in the same meeting on two different devices concurrently. Upon selecting the meeting on another device, users can simply click “Join here too” under “Other joining options” to maintain the call on both devices.
This new functionality represents a significant step forward in enhancing flexibility and usability for individuals who rely on multiple devices throughout their workday. Whether transitioning from mobile to desktop or managing parallel engagements across devices, Google Meet’s latest feature promises to streamline the user experience and facilitate seamless communication.
