Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort are cracking down on the misuse of their Disability Access Service (DAS) program, threatening a lifetime ban for guests who provide false information during the registration process.

The popular DAS program, designed to assist guests with disabilities who have difficulty waiting in long queues, has seen a surge in usage over the past five years, tripling in demand according to Disney officials. This spike is largely attributed to the spread of “Disneyland line hack” videos on social media, which demonstrate how to exploit the system and skip lines without paying for the Genie+ service.

In response to this rampant abuse, both Disneyland and Walt Disney World have announced changes to their DAS programs, set to take effect on June 18 and May 20, respectively. The updates aim to curb the misuse that has resulted in longer attraction queues and backed-up Genie+ lanes for legitimate guests.

Notably, Disneyland Resort has issued a stern warning on its website, addressing those who might consider providing false information during the DAS registration process. The website states: “If it is determined that any of the statements a guest made in the process of obtaining DAS are not true, the guest will be permanently barred from entering the Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort, and any previously purchased Annual Passes, Magic Key passes, tickets and other park products and services will be forfeited and not refunded.”

While the specifics of how Disney plans to catch those abusing the system remain unclear, it is likely that cast members across the parks will play a crucial role in the initial line of defense, according to the Orange County Register.

Under the updated DAS program, eligibility will be tightened to accommodate “only those guests who, due to a developmental disability like autism or similar, are unable to wait in long lines.” This represents a significant shift from the previous iteration, which assisted guests with difficulty tolerating long queues due to any disability.
