Disney is adding another live-action remake to its already impressive lineup, with the announcement of a new adaptation of the popular 2016 animated movie, Moana. The announcement was made through a video featuring Dwayne Johnson, who voiced the character of Maui in the original movie. The new project is set to take viewers on an adventure that will celebrate the culture, traditions, and islands of Pacific Islanders, with a fresh and unique perspective.

Moana tells the story of a young girl named Moana Waialiki, who sets sail on a daring mission to save her people. With the help of the demigod Maui, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery and learns more about the rich history and traditions of her ancestors. The original movie was a massive success, grossing over $650 million at the box office and earning critical acclaim for its inspiring message, stunning visuals, and memorable music.

According to a press release from Disney, the live-action adaptation of Moana will stay true to the original story, with a focus on Moana’s quest for self-discovery and her friendship with Maui. The film will also showcase the beauty and culture of Pacific Islanders, which was a central theme of the animated movie. Although no release date has been announced, fans of the original Moana are eagerly anticipating the new film’s release.

Disney has been on a roll with its live-action remakes in recent years, with movies like The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin all enjoying box-office success. While some fans have criticized these remakes for lacking the charm and originality of the animated originals, they have still proven to be popular with audiences. With the talented cast and crew attached to the new Moana, there is no doubt that this live-action adaptation will be a must-watch for fans of the original.
