The DeLorean, made famous in part for its promise to travel through time in the blockbuster “Back to the Future” movie, is making a comeback as an electric vehicle.

The DeLorean Motor Company teased that the next generation car would be revealed on August 18, 2022, with a new photo of it. You won’t be able to buy one because it’s a concept car. The vehicle will be revealed by DMC at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

Let’s clear things up a bit. The next generation of DeLorean is coming into focus August 18, 2022. For more information read the press release here: https://t.co/Q4Rax2aBC1 #DeLorean #DeloreanEVolved #firstlook pic.twitter.com/H0t0i4ODqv

In a Linkedin post, company CEO Joost de Vries wrote “Yes, a teaser as it doesn’t show the whole vehicle yet, but a great shot of the rear quarter ! Looking forward to share more soon….”

“Excitement is rising like the doors of our iconic sports car, and we are revealing the next generation prototype 3 days earlier than planned on the most prestigious stage at Pebble Beach,” said Troy Beetz, CMO of DeLorean Motor Company Inc.

The DeLorean was first launched by DMC in 1981, and it was made famous by Robert Zemeckis’ 1985 film “Back to the Future.” When the car reached 88 mph, Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) used the vehicle to go through time, which was made possible by a Flux Capacitor.

The DeLorean is famous for its unique gull-wing doors, and when the new electric vehicle version is revealed later this year, it will be exciting to see the whole new design again.
