Microsoft‘s video editor, Clipchamp, is about to get a whole lot more impressive. The company has announced that it’s adding two new AI-powered features to the platform: background removal and noise suppression. While these tools are supposedly available now for everyone, including consumers and those with school or work accounts, we haven’t been able to spot them yet. So, consider this a sneak peek into what’s likely coming soon.
The background removal feature is pretty self-explanatory. With a simple right-click on a video clip or image, you can instantly transform it into a green screen-like element. This opens up a world of possibilities, allowing you to layer any image or video behind your subject. Microsoft even claims you can turn objects in images into stickers, though how exactly that works remains a bit of a mystery.
Noise suppression is another welcome addition. By toggling a switch in the audio pane, Clipchamp will work its AI magic to eliminate unwanted background noise from your clips. It’s a feature that could be a game-changer for those recording videos in less-than-ideal environments.
These new AI features are just the latest in a series of improvements Microsoft has made to Clipchamp this year. Earlier this year, the app gained audio recording, text-to-speech, and silence removal capabilities. It’s clear that Microsoft is committed to turning Clipchamp into a robust and user-friendly video editing tool.
Available for free both online and as a built-in app on Windows 11, Clipchamp is definitely worth checking out, especially if you’re eager to experiment with the latest AI-powered video editing tricks.
