OpenAI‘s popular language model, ChatGPT, has received a significant update on its iOS app, offering an enhanced experience to paid subscribers. In collaboration with Microsoft‘s search engine, Bing, OpenAI now allows users of the ChatGPT Plus plan to access up-to-date information directly within the app. This integration follows Microsoft’s substantial investment in OpenAI earlier this year, further solidifying their partnership. With Bing as the default search engine, ChatGPT empowers users to delve into current topics and events, making it an invaluable tool for staying informed.

OpenAI’s recent update brings the power of Bing’s comprehensive search capabilities to ChatGPT Plus subscribers. Priced at $20 per month, this premium plan offers users access to the latest information sourced from the web. By leveraging Bing’s vast database, ChatGPT Plus ensures that subscribers receive accurate and relevant data, making it an indispensable resource for those seeking real-time insights.

The integration of Bing into ChatGPT Plus is not limited to the web app; it has now extended to the iOS application as well. OpenAI has streamlined the process of enabling web browsing with Bing on iOS devices. Users can easily navigate to the settings and activate the Browsing option within the “New Features” section. By selecting the GPT-4 model switcher and choosing “Browse with Bing” from the dropdown menu, iOS users can unlock the full potential of ChatGPT.

While ChatGPT Plus users enjoy the benefits of the Bing integration, it’s important to note the distinction between the paid and free versions. The free version of ChatGPT, available to all users, is limited to surfacing information only up to the year 2021. On the other hand, ChatGPT Plus subscribers gain access to a wealth of current information, enabling them to stay up to date with the latest news, trends, and developments.

The integration of Bing as the default search engine for ChatGPT is a result of the partnership between OpenAI and Microsoft. In recent years, Microsoft has demonstrated its commitment to advancing AI technologies by investing billions of dollars in OpenAI. This collaboration not only strengthens the capabilities of both organizations but also fosters innovation in the field of natural language processing.

While ChatGPT’s integration with Bing is currently available exclusively on iOS devices, OpenAI has assured Android users that an app for their platform is forthcoming. The forthcoming Android app will bring the same powerful features, including Bing integration, to a wider audience, enabling more users to benefit from ChatGPT’s sophisticated language processing capabilities.
