A blank order email receipt was just sent to thousands of Burger King customers. Burger King customers are confused about whether the company has been hijacked by a hungry hacker trying to eat themselves at midnight, or whether the emails are just a massive whopper of an accident, according to The Verge, who reported that the blank emails first started appearing at around 12:15 AM ET.

Some Twitter users even reported receiving two Burger King emails in an apparent double whopper of a mistake as they immediately turned to the social network in a state of perplexity about the blank order receipt emails. The order emails were sent from Burger King’s primary promotional email account and are entirely blank.

The company has been contacted to explain these truly bizarre emails about midnight burgers, but The Verge claimed there is “no clear indication that Burger King has been hacked.” It could just be a system change gone wrong that sent blank orders to Burger King’s entire marketing database because many of the recipients of the emails don’t even remember setting up a Burger King account.
