Bluesky, the decentralized social media platform, has taken a significant step towards improving user safety with the introduction of several new “anti-toxicity” features. These updates aim to protect users from harassment, dogpiling, and other forms of online abuse.
One of the most notable additions is the ability to detach a post from a quote of it. This means that if someone quotes your post and you don’t want to be associated with their commentary, you can now detach your original post, effectively preventing it from being seen beneath their quote. This is a less drastic measure than blocking the quote poster entirely, offering users more granular control over their interactions.

Bluesky has also introduced the option to hide replies to posts. This allows users to move unwanted replies to a separate “Hidden Replies” screen, making them less visible to others. Additionally, the platform is now limiting the number of replies shown in the “Following” feed, focusing on conversations that involve at least two followers.
