After discontinuing the popular Beats Pill speaker in 2022, it appears a new generation is on the horizon. The wait seems to be nearing its end as Beats by Dre officially teased an upcoming product launch in a short video ad.
The 16-second clip features basketball legend LeBron James and rapper Lil Wayne. While the video doesn’t explicitly showcase the product, a glimpse of a gold-colored Beats Pill can be spotted. More importantly, the ad concludes with the cryptic message “6/25,” strongly suggesting an official unveiling next Tuesday, June 25th.
For the uninitiated, the Beats Pill was a beloved portable wireless speaker known for its compact size and signature sound. Its discontinuation in 2022 left a void in the market, with many hoping for a successor.
This recent ad hints that Apple, which owns Beats by Dre, is finally ready to fill that void. The new Beats Pill, codenamed “A3211,” has already been registered with the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) in the US and Taiwan’s NCC (National Communications Commission). These registrations typically signify an imminent release date.
While details about the new Beats Pill remain scarce, the teaser ad provides a sneak peek at its possible color scheme. The gold-colored glimpse suggests potential options beyond the classic black and red iterations of the original speaker.
Another unknown factor is the price tag. The previous version retailed for $230, but it’s unclear if the new model will follow suit. We’ll likely have to wait until the official announcement on June 25th for a complete picture – specifications, features, and of course, the price.
