In a galactic collaboration that will ignite the passion of Star Wars enthusiasts, Autodesk has joined forces with Disney and Lucasfilm to unleash a unique artistic challenge. Coinciding with the highly anticipated Star Wars Day on May 4th, this contest invites fans to embark on a journey of creativity, opening the doors of Maya, 3ds Max, or Fusion to design their very own droid.

The challenge, launched yesterday by Autodesk, is deceptively simple yet brimming with boundless potential: design a droid. Autodesk’s long-standing partnership with Lucasfilm has yielded remarkable results, with Autodesk software playing a pivotal role in the creation of the new Star Wars droid set to make its debut in the Disney+ TV show “The Acolyte,” premiering on June 4. This contest feels like a natural extension of this collaboration, resonating with the essence of the Star Wars universe.

Open to participants aged 18 and above, the competition will run throughout the entire month of May, allowing ample time for aspiring droid designers to unleash their imagination. Submissions can be made by visiting https://autodesk.com/droid, where fans can showcase their unique creations to the world.

But the allure of this challenge extends far beyond the creative satisfaction of designing a droid. The prizes on offer are truly out of this galaxy. The winner of the Mechanical Grand Prize will not only have their design brought to life and displayed at Lucasfilm but will also receive a VIP tour of the studio and have the opportunity to meet a Lucasfilm executive, presenting the perfect chance to leave a lasting impression (and perhaps a portfolio or two).

Meanwhile, the victor of the Animated Grand Prize will have their droid digitally showcased at the iconic Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, accompanied by a VIP tour and the opportunity to have their design professionally 3D-printed, allowing them to take home a tangible piece of their creative endeavor.

As the galaxy holds its collective breath, the Autodesk Star Wars droid design contest will come to a close on June 4 at 11:59 pm ET. The anticipation will reach a fever pitch as the winners are announced on June 18. For those eager to embark on this extraordinary journey, visit the contest website for more information and submit your entry today, for this is a chance to leave an indelible mark on the ever-expanding Star Wars universe.
