The Apple Watch Ultra, a new feature-rich smartwatch for athletes and adventures, was unveiled by Apple at their “Far Out” press event today. It features an entirely new design, a large flat sapphire crystal display, an additional programmable Action button, and cellular connectivity as standard.

The 49mm titanium case boasts a larger, more powerful Digital Crown and the brightest Apple Watch display yet with 2,000 nits, which is two times as bright as previous models. It has a 36-hour battery life and will have a new low-power battery optimization setting later this fall, allowing for a battery life of up to 60 hours.

According to Apple, the Apple Watch Ultra has enough battery life for the majority of people to finish a long-course triathlon, which combines a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile full marathon.

For instance, it can start workouts instantly and move users to the following interval of a Custom Program or the following leg of a Multisport workout. Additionally, it may be used to identify segments, completing the new Track running experience, which automatically gives runners at a track the best pace and distance estimates.

Also, the Stride Length, Ground Contact Time, Vertical Oscillation, and Running Power are some of the new advanced running metrics introduced in the most recent watchOS 9, and new Workout Views like Segments, Splits, and Elevation also provide significant metrics that can make use of the larger display on the Ultra by displaying up to six metrics simultaneously.
