As Apple’s big event looms next week, where we’re all expecting to see the shiny new iPhone 16, rumors about the Apple Watch Series 10 are starting to trickle in. While details have been pretty scarce, a new report from 9to5Mac hints at a pretty interesting upgrade: the addition of sleep apnea detection.
According to the report, the Watch Series 10 might come with an upgraded ECG sensor that’s not just about tracking your heart rate but also detecting sleep apnea. For those who aren’t familiar, sleep apnea is a serious condition where people periodically stop breathing during sleep. If the watch senses signs of this issue, it’ll suggest that you check in with a healthcare professional for further testing.
The Watch Series 10 might also feature some design tweaks, like slightly larger displays and a slimmer profile. Plus, it could come with improved water resistance, potentially supporting features from the Apple Watch Ultra’s Depth app. There might even be changes to how health data is processed, with the possibility of detecting atrial fibrillation directly through the Health app instead of the watch itself.
However, don’t expect to see the return of the blood oxygen sensor just yet. After a patent spat with Masimo, Apple had to pull this feature from existing models, and it seems it might not make a comeback with the Series 10.
