Apple is aiming to revolutionize augmented and virtual reality technology with the upcoming launch of its Vision Pro headset on February 2nd. The $3,499 headset promises crisp, ultra-high-resolution displays to transport users into immersive environments and experiences. However, customers requiring prescription lenses will need to pay an additional $149 to see Vision Pro’s cutting-edge visuals in sharp focus truly.
Vision Pro will offer two optical insert options from Zeiss for those needing vision correction: $99 readers or $149 prescription lenses. According to Apple’s footnotes, both inserts will only be available for online orders initially rather than in retail Apple stores. Customers will also need to provide a valid prescription for the prescription lenses, and Apple cautions that not all lens prescriptions can be accommodated.
Exactly which prescriptions the Vision Pro inserts can support is still unclear, with details likely to emerge closer to launch. We do know that the insert lenses magnetically attach inside the Vision Pro headset, which promises to enable users to fully experience the precision and clarity of its displays.

With online preorders for Vision Pro headsets beginning January 19th ahead of the February 2nd sale date, customers needing prescription lenses have just over a week to get their vision prescriptions in order. While the $149 prescription insert fee may cause some sticker shock on top of an already hefty $3,499 headset price, it may well be worth it for visually impaired users to truly dive into Vision Pro’s cutting-edge augmented and virtual worlds. Apple is betting that customers will spare no expense for this glimpse into the AR/VR future.
