Apple‘s newly launched Vision Pro wearable device promises to bring augmented reality to the masses through a sleek, fashionable design. However, in a recently published support document, Apple has confirmed that the Vision Pro “isn’t compatible with Bluetooth mice.“
While the Vision Pro will work with “most Bluetooth keyboards” made by both Apple and other manufacturers, as well as Apple’s own Magic Trackpad accessory, Bluetooth mice are notably excluded.
Apple stated that:
Apple Vision Pro isn’t compatible with older models of Apple keyboards and trackpads that use removable batteries. Apple Vision Pro also isn’t compatible with Bluetooth mice.
For gamers wondering about controllers, Apple provided better news. “All controllers with MFi (Made for iPhone) designation work with Apple Vision Pro. This includes controllers by Xbox, PlayStation, and any controller that works with iPadOS,” the support document reads. So while you can’t connect a Bluetooth mouse, your Xbox or PlayStation controller should pair just fine for gaming.
In terms of audio accessories, you’ll have no shortage of options. “All current models of AirPods and Beats headphones can connect to Apple Vision Pro,” Apple confirmed. “For the best experience, including Lossless Audio and ultra-low latency, use AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with MagSafe Charging Case (USB-C).” Hearing aid support is also robust, with Apple stating that “All hearing devices with MFi designation can connect to Apple Vision Pro. Some models by Phonak, IQBud, and Poco are also compatible.“
So if you were hoping to use your favorite Bluetooth mouse as a pointer device with your new Vision Pro, you may need to make other accommodations. Apple has published the full support document with more Bluetooth accessory compatibility details on its website. But one thing is clear for early adopters – no vision for your Bluetooth mouse.
