Apple has decided to up the costs of various services, signaling a change in its subscription pricing structure. Notably, Apple TV Plus is set to see a jump from $6.99 per month to $9.99 per month. This shift in pricing was first reported by MacRumors.
Apple Arcade is not spared from the price hike either, as it will now cost subscribers $6.99 per month, up from the previous rate of $4.99 per month. Furthermore, Apple News Plus is increasing its subscription fee from $9.99 per month to $12.99 per month. Consequently, Apple’s all-in-one bundle, Apple One, will also be subject to adjustments.
New pricing across Apple One’s three tiers:
- Individual — $19.95 (previously $16.95)
- Family — $25.95 (previously $22.95)
- Premier — $37.95 (previously $32.95)
For context, the Individual and Family plans offer access to TV Plus, Music, and Arcade. The Individual plan includes 50GB of iCloud Plus storage, while the Family plan allows for 200GB of storage shared among five users. The highest-priced Premier plan extends the offering to include Fitness Plus and News Plus subscriptions, as well as 2TB of iCloud Plus storage.
This adjustment in subscription pricing comes just before Apple’s fourth-quarter earnings report, scheduled for next Thursday. Subscription services, such as iCloud and Apple TV Plus, have been an essential and growing revenue source for the tech giant. The price hikes will likely contribute to bolstering the financial performance of these services in the near future.
This price increase follows a similar move made by Apple about a year ago when it raised the prices of Apple Music, Apple TV Plus, and Apple One. Notably, it appears that Apple is not modifying the pricing for its Apple Music, Fitness Plus, or iCloud Plus subscriptions at this time.
