The phone displays the 'Severance' show banner and Must-See Hits section, while the tablet shows a larger view featuring a soccer player in a pink jersey. At the bottom of the tablet screen is a row of MLS (Major League Soccer) match cards showing upcoming games between teams like New York vs. Orlando and Philadelphia vs. Montreal. Both devices show the time as 9:41 and display the Apple TV+ interface in a dark theme.

Apple has officially taken a bold step in expanding its streaming universe by rolling out the Apple TV Plus app for Android phones and tablets. This move marks another milestone in Apple’s broader strategy to bring its ecosystem—traditionally confined to its own devices—into the hands of a wider audience. If you’re curious to give it a whirl, you can head over to the Google Play Store to download it, though keep in mind that the listing might take a little time to reach everyone.

For years, Android users have had to rely on workarounds or third-party integrations to enjoy Apple TV Plus content. Now, with the dedicated app in hand, accessing your favorite shows and exclusive Apple originals just got a lot easier. The Android version doesn’t just offer a basic streaming interface—it comes packed with some nifty features that promise to enhance your viewing experience:

  • Offline downloads: Whether you’re on a long commute or planning a weekend getaway without reliable internet, the ability to download content for offline viewing means your favorite shows are always within reach.
  • Saved watchlists: Keep track of what you want to watch next with the handy watchlist feature, making it simple to pick up right where you left off.
  • Integrated billing: Subscribing to Apple TV Plus, and even snagging an MLS Season Pass, is now streamlined through Google Play billing. This integration means you can sign up or manage your subscription directly from your Android device without any extra fuss.

It’s worth noting, however, that while you can subscribe to the service, the app doesn’t currently support renting or buying movies and TV shows—a functionality that remains exclusive to other platforms.

This launch is more than just a new app release; it’s a clear indicator of Apple’s ambition to broaden its audience. For years, the tech giant has kept many of its services within a tightly controlled ecosystem, but recent years have seen a noticeable pivot. Apple Music, Apple Music Classical, and even the Beats app are already available on Android, demonstrating that the company is willing to meet consumers where they are.
