Apple TV+ ordered new comedy series “Mrs. American Pie,” starred by Kristen Wiig
SHARE

Apple TV+ yesterday announced a new comedy series order for “Mrs. American Pie,” from creator Abe Sylvia, starring Kristen Wiig with Laura Dern.

The series was conceived and executive produced by Academy Award winner Laura Dern and her producing partner Jayme Lemons under their Jaywalker Pictures company and is based on the novel by Juliet McDaniel.

Abe Sylvia will write, executive produce, and showrun “Mrs. American Pie,” which will be directed and executive produced by Academy Award nominee Tate Taylor. Under their Wyolah Entertainment label, Taylor and John Norris also serve as executive producers. Boat Rocker’s executive producer is Katie O’Connell Marsh.

About series

“Mrs. American Pie,” a series about gorgeously impossible people, chronicles Maxine Simmons’ (Wiig) struggle to gain a place at America’s most exclusive table: Palm Beach high society. “Mrs. American Pie,” asks the same questions that still perplex us today as Maxine tries to breach that impenetrable divide between the haves and the have-nots: “Mrs. American Pie,” asks the same questions that still baffle us today: “Who gets a seat at the table?” “How do you get a seat at the table?” “What will you sacrifice to get there?” Set during the powderkeg era of the early 1970s, “Mrs. American Pie” is a testimony to every outsider struggling for a chance at superficial glory during the powderkeg era of the early 1970s.
