Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has been hospitalized following a minor stroke, as reported by ABC News. Initially, the cause of Wozniak’s hospitalization was unclear. However, on Thursday, Wozniak himself provided an update on his condition to ABC News through a text message. According to him, he experienced dizziness earlier in the day while using the computer, leading to vertigo and an inability to walk.
The incident occurred on the same day Wozniak was scheduled to speak at an event in Mexico City, as stated by a source involved in organizing the World Business Forum, as reported by CNN. The hospital visit in Mexico City included an MRI, which confirmed that Wozniak had indeed suffered a “minor but real stroke.” Wozniak has since been released from the hospital and is on his way back home.
The update from Wozniak corroborates earlier reports about his hospitalization. According to a source cited by TMZ, Wozniak informed his wife that he was “feeling strange” before displaying concerning symptoms that led to the hospital visit. TMZ suggested that Wozniak might have been experiencing vertigo, but further tests were ongoing. Spanish-language outlets had previously reported the stroke, but confirmation from Wozniak or his representatives was only provided in the ABC News report on Thursday.
Wozniak, also known as “Woz” among Apple enthusiasts, co-founded the tech giant with Steve Jobs in 1976. Despite being 73 years old, he has remained active, traveling, speaking at events, and advocating for technology and entrepreneurial efforts worldwide.
