Anker, a popular electronics brand known for its portable chargers and other mobile accessories, has announced a recall of its 321 Power Bank (PowerCore 5K, model number A1112) due to a potential fire hazard.
The issue stems from a manufacturing defect that could cause the lithium-ion battery in the affected power banks to overheat. This overheating could lead to the melting of plastic components, smoke emission, and even fire.
Anker emphasizes that only a limited number of units produced after March 2023 are believed to be impacted. However, to prioritize customer safety, they are recalling all Anker 321 Power Banks (PowerCore 5K, Black) with the model number A1112.
Here’s how to identify if your power bank is part of the recall:
- Look for a white label on the bottom of your power bank.
- Check if the label specifically mentions “Anker 321 Power Bank (PowerCore 5K, Black), Model: A1112”.

If your power bank matches this description, Anker strongly advises you to:
- Stop using it immediately. Your safety is the top priority.
- Head to Anker’s recall webpage and fill out the form. You’ll need to provide your power bank’s serial number, which can also be found on the white label at the bottom.
- Locate your proof of purchase. While not mandatory, Anker says having it will expedite the replacement process.
- Do not throw away your old power bank! Lithium-ion batteries pose a threat if not disposed of responsibly. Anker provides links on their recall webpage to help you find authorized e-waste collection centers based on your location.
Anker is offering a replacement 533 Power Bank to all affected customers. It’s important to remember that electronic waste (e-waste) is a growing environmental concern, and proper battery disposal is crucial. Anker provides helpful resources on their website to ensure you dispose of your old power bank safely and responsibly.
