Imagine this: You’re halfway through a binge-worthy TV series, but life interrupts. Days later, you return to the show, but the plot’s a blur. Fret not, because Amazon Prime Video is rolling out a new AI-powered feature that could be your TV-watching savior.

Introducing X-Ray Recaps, an innovative tool that harnesses the power of generative AI to provide concise summaries of TV shows, episodes, or even specific scenes. This feature is designed to help you quickly catch up on the story, without having to rewind and replay.

Here’s how it works

X-Ray Recaps works by analyzing video segments, subtitles, and dialogue to generate detailed descriptions of key events, locations, timelines, and conversations. It’s like having a personal AI assistant who’s always up-to-date on your favorite shows.

Amazon has implemented safeguards to ensure that X-Ray Recaps avoid spoiling the plot. The AI is trained to provide concise summaries without revealing crucial plot twists or character arcs.

X-Ray Recaps is currently in beta and is available on Fire TV devices. Amazon plans to expand support to additional devices by the end of the year. Initially, the feature will be compatible with all Amazon MGM Studios Original series, but the company may expand its reach to other content libraries in the future.
