Sellers on Amazon are set to benefit from a new feature that streamlines the process of creating product pages by allowing them to paste a link from their external website. This innovative generative AI tool, developed by Amazon, extracts relevant information from the provided link and automatically generates a comprehensive product page on the Amazon platform. The generated page includes a detailed product description and images, aiming to significantly reduce the time and effort required for sellers to list their products on Amazon.
Mary Beth Westmoreland, Amazon’s VP of worldwide selling partner experience, highlighted the primary objective of this new feature as assisting sellers in seamlessly transitioning their products from external websites to Amazon. In a blog post, she emphasized the potential time-saving benefits and efficiency improvements this tool offers to sellers.

However, Amazon has issued a cautionary note to sellers intending to utilize this feature. Sellers must ensure they have the necessary ownership rights or licenses for the content linked to the product page creation. Amazon explicitly states that any misrepresentation of ownership could lead to legal repercussions for the seller.
The rollout of this feature has commenced, with availability expected for US sellers in the upcoming weeks. Westmoreland expressed optimism about the positive reception of Amazon’s AI tools among sellers. Notably, the AI product text generation service has seen significant adoption, with nearly 80% of users accepting AI-generated listings with minimal human intervention.
Amazon’s commitment to leveraging AI technology is evident in its recent initiatives. In addition to the product page generation tool, Amazon has introduced AI tools for image generation and product listing text creation for sellers. For shoppers, Amazon unveiled Rufus, an AI chatbot designed to enhance the shopping experience by providing product information, suggesting similar items, and facilitating model comparisons. Despite occasional quirks like generating jokes or songs about products, these AI tools reflect Amazon’s ongoing investment in advancing generative AI capabilities across its platform.
The broader context of Amazon’s AI strategy includes significant investments in generative AI technologies across the company. Amazon Web Services (AWS) hosts various AI models and recently introduced a text-to-image generator, further solidifying the integration of AI into Amazon’s e-commerce ecosystem.
