Acer has announced its first-ever Qualcomm Snapdragon-powered laptop, the Swift 14 AI. This new addition to the popular Swift lineup marks a significant shift for Acer, offering a Windows on Arm (WOA) experience with a focus on AI-powered features.
The Swift 14 AI arrives in two configurations, both featuring support for the latest AI functionalities available in Windows 11. These features include:
- Recall: This AI assistant helps you find previously viewed documents and files.
- Cocreator: A collaborative tool that allows real-time co-authoring of documents with improved accessibility features.
- Live Captions: Generates automatic captions for media playback, increasing accessibility for everyone.
The two configurations of the Swift 14 AI offer a choice between the Snapdragon X Elite processor and the Snapdragon X Plus processor. Both processors boast a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) with a whopping 45 TOPS of performance, ideal for AI-intensive tasks. Additionally, both models can be configured with up to 32GB of memory and a spacious 1TB M.2 solid-state drive (SSD) for speedy storage.
The Swift 14 AI boasts a stunning 14.5-inch display with a 2560 x 1600 resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. This translates to sharp visuals and buttery-smooth performance, perfect for creative work and entertainment.
When it comes to connectivity, the Swift 14 AI doesn’t disappoint. It comes equipped with Wi-Fi 7, the latest and fastest wireless standard, ensuring seamless internet access. Bluetooth 4 provides a reliable connection for your wireless devices, while the plethora of ports caters to all your needs. You’ll find two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, and an HDMI port, offering flexibility for connecting various peripherals.
For crystal-clear video conferencing, the Swift 14 AI boasts a 1440p resolution infrared (IR) webcam. This high-resolution camera ensures you look sharp and professional during online meetings and video calls.
The Swift 14 AI marks a significant departure from the previous Swift lineup. Acer streamlined its naming convention in 2023, renaming the Swift 5 and Swift 3 to Swift 14 and Swift Go, respectively. This resulted in a wider range of Swift 14 options, including the Swift X 14, Swift Go 14, and Swift Go 14 AMD – all featuring AI capabilities. The vanilla Swift 14 remains the only model without an NPU, catering to users who prefer a traditional x86 processor architecture.
The Acer Swift 14 AI is set to hit shelves in North America starting July, with a starting price of $1,099. European, Middle Eastern, and African markets will see the laptop arrive earlier, in June, with a starting price of €1,499.
The Swift 14 AI presents an exciting new option for users seeking a powerful and AI-focused Windows on Arm laptop. With its combination of performance, stunning display, and comprehensive connectivity, this laptop is poised to be a strong contender in the ever-evolving mobile computing landscape.
