Xbox's Aaron Greenberg reveals runtime and format for Xbox Showcase
SHARE

In anticipation of the highly anticipated Xbox Games Showcase 2023 and Starfield Direct, set to air in less than a week, Aaron Greenberg, Xbox’s Vice President of Marketing, has shared on Twitter to address some burning questions from fans. Greenberg shed light on the show’s runtime, format, and the kind of trailers gamers can expect from Xbox’s first-party studios.

One of the most significant updates shared by Greenberg is that the event will showcase approximately two hours of thrilling game reveals. Unlike last year’s “12-month only” format, this year’s showcase promises to feature games that are further out in the pipeline. Fans can potentially look forward to glimpses of InXile’s new project or even a fresh installment from The Coalition in the popular Gears of War franchise.

Moreover, Greenberg delighted fans by confirming that the first-party reveals will not rely on CGI alone. Instead, Xbox plans to present a combination of in-engine footage and cinematics or entirely in-game footage. Greenberg took to Twitter, stating, “None of our first-party games in the show are full CG trailers. Everything is either in-game footage, in-engine footage, or in-game footage with some cinematics. Each of our trailers will be labeled so it is hopefully clear for our fans.”

In an interesting turn of events, Greenberg also made it clear that Xbox Games Showcase 2023 will not include any movie trailers. This subtle reference to Sony PlayStation Showcase, which featured a trailer for the upcoming Gran Turismo movie, left fans both puzzled and disappointed. Greenberg’s clarification sets the stage for a purely gaming-focused experience, highlighting Xbox’s dedication to showcasing their outstanding lineup.

Lastly, Greenberg expressed his appreciation for the fervor and speculation surrounding the event. Rather than asking fans to temper their expectations, he encouraged an open-minded approach, inviting everyone to enjoy the exciting journey ahead. “My advice is to just come in open-minded and enjoy the ride. Appreciate the years of hard work so many teams have put their heart & soul into this for you all,” Greenberg tweeted.

Given the remarkable level of activity on social media by various Xbox executives leading up to the event, it seems that this year’s Xbox Showcase could be particularly noteworthy. While hyping one’s own event may seem customary, the substantial engagement seen in recent years suggests that Xbox might be gearing up to unveil a lineup of games that will truly captivate audiences.

As the countdown to the Xbox Games Showcase 2023 and Starfield Direct continues, gamers around the world eagerly await the moment when Xbox’s grand plans unfold. With promises of an extended runtime, genuine in-game footage, and an undeniable air of excitement, the stage is set for an unforgettable showcase that could leave fans in awe. Only time will tell what Xbox has in store for us, but if the social media buzz is any indication, it’s poised to be a remarkable display of gaming prowess.
