Samsung and Netflix are handing out a small, very specific piece of the KPop Demon Hunters universe that you can carry in your pocket: a free collection of phone themes that skin your lock screen, home screen, always-on display, icons and even the Phone and Messages backgrounds with the film’s visuals. It went live on August 13, 2025, and will be available through September 12, 2025 — but only for a limited set of markets and with a couple of caveats.
The bundle includes 11 designs: one full theme package that spotlights the in-movie K-pop group HUNTR/X, plus ten character wallpapers built around fan favorites such as Rumi, Zoey, Jinu, Derpy and Sussie. Samsung frames the set as “designed to provide a consistent and visually engaging user experience across Galaxy devices,” which reads exactly like the sort of polished cross-platform dressing the company does for big studio tie-ins. The press assets include a handful of high-res mockups Samsung released alongside the announcement.
The themes are available via a dedicated promotion page in the Galaxy Store. Existing Netflix users unlock the themes by launching the Netflix app through that promotion page; users who don’t have Netflix installed are routed to the app’s download page before being allowed to claim the themes. The promotional window runs from 10:00 am (local time), Aug. 13 to 11:59 pm, Sept. 12.
Important limits and compatibility:
- The special theme package (the full HUNTR/X experience) is only compatible with Galaxy smartphones running Android 15 or later — that’s the sticky bit for anyone on older phones. The character wallpapers, however, are listed as compatible with Galaxy phones on any Android version (but still may not work on certain models). Tablets are explicitly excluded. After switching devices, you can reinstall the theme on up to 10 compatible devices. And Samsung warns the themes may be withdrawn or changed without notice.
Where it’s available:
South Korea, United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia and Türkiye. If you live outside those markets, you likely won’t see the promotion in the Galaxy Store.
This kind of partnership serves upstream marketing for the film while giving device makers a low-cost way to offer short-lived, attention-grabbing personalization. Samsung has leaned into pop-culture tie-ins previously, and the company’s press materials position the collection as one more way to “deliver engaging and personalized UX” to Galaxy users. On the Netflix side, the film’s soundtrack and characters have become a cultural moment: KPop Demon Hunters has pushed music from its fictional groups onto global charts and into social feeds, which makes limited digital swag like themes a sensible — and cheap — way to keep that momentum.
If you’ve been following the movie’s reach, you’ll know the music tied to it has been unusually pervasive for an animated tie-in — tracks from the film have been charting and creating viral moments online. In that climate, a free theme pack functions like concert merch for phones: it’s quick to claim, easy to show off, and helps fans signal their fandom in a very visible place.
Quick how-to (if you want to try)
- Open the Galaxy Store on a compatible Samsung phone.
- Find the KPop Demon Hunters promotion page (it was posted as the promoted item on Aug. 13).
- If you already have Netflix installed, launch Netflix from that promotion page to unlock the themes. If not, download Netflix first from the Galaxy Store and then open it through the promotion page.
- Download whichever theme or wallpaper you want. Remember the HUNTR/X full theme needs Android 15+ to install; wallpapers are more broadly compatible.
Caveats worth repeating
- The HUNTR/X package won’t install on older phones or tablets — you need Android 15 or later for the full experience.
- The promotion is time-limited and region-restricted; if you miss the Aug. 13 – Sept. 12 window or don’t live in the listed countries, there’s no official way to claim them.
- Samsung explicitly notes the content can be changed or withdrawn at any time, for any reason. If you value the aesthetic, grab it while it’s up.
