Pixel 10 Pro Fold and wearables expected in stores October 9

While the Pixel 10 lineup launches in August, the foldable Pixel 10 Pro Fold may not arrive until October 9, 2025, according to new reports.

Google’s upcoming “Made by Google” event is just around the corner—slated for August 20th, 2025—and it promises to introduce the tech world to the next generation of Pixel hardware. But for those eyeing the company’s most adventurous models, patience may be required: according to a report from WinFuture, supply chain hurdles could postpone the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Pixel Watch 4, and Pixel Buds 2a until a coordinated October 9th release, more than a month after the rest of the lineup hits shelves.

At launch, only the standard Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL are expected to be readily available for preorder and pickup. Insider details suggest Google will open direct-to-consumer shipping immediately following the August 20th keynote, with brick-and-mortar stores stocking the trio starting August 28th. Meanwhile, the Pro Fold variant will wait until early October, a strategy that echoes last year’s staggered Pixel 9 series rollout.

Neither Google nor its manufacturing partners have officially commented on the delays, but the consensus among well-placed sources points to “supply chain issues.” While the precise nature of these snags remains unclear, they could range from component shortages to production line realignments needed for the foldable’s complex hinge mechanism.

When the Pixel 10 Pro Fold finally arrives, it’s expected to build on the innovations of its predecessor. Tipsters say the device will boast full dustproofing—a first for Google’s foldable—and a slightly larger external display, courtesy of a narrower hinge gap. These refinements aim to position the Pro Fold as a sleek competitor to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series.

Alongside the foldable, Google’s wearable division faces a similar schedule setback. The Pixel Watch 4, rumored to feature a marginally thicker chassis for enhanced battery life, and the budget-oriented Pixel Buds 2a—possibly available in a fresh “iris” hue—are both expected to join the foldable in the October window.

Despite the hiccup for its flagship foldable and wearables, Google is rumored to deliver meaningful enhancements to the core Pixel 10 series. Leaks indicate the standard Pixel 10 may gain a third rear camera—bridging the gap to its Pro sibling—while all new models will support wireless Qi2 fast charging. Notably, insiders see no sweeping price adjustments, suggesting Google is keeping costs steady to maintain competitive positioning.

This isn’t Google’s first rodeo with staggered smartphone releases. In 2024, the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro XL reached customers mere days after unveiling, whereas the 9 Pro and 9 Pro Fold trickled out weeks later. The Pixel Watch 3 and Pixel Buds Pro 2 similarly arrived in phased waves, hinting that Google may view a spread-out schedule as an opportunity to sustain media buzz and manage inventory more precisely.

For early adopters eager to experience Google’s latest hardware firsthand, the key dates to remember are:

  • August 20, 2025: Pixel 10 family unveiled at the Made by Google event.
  • August 20 onwards: Preorders open for Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL.
  • August 28, 2025: Retail availability of the standard Pixel 10 lineup begins.
  • October 9, 2025: Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Pixel Watch 4, and Pixel Buds 2a officially go on sale.

Although a month-plus wait can be frustrating, it may also grant Google time to ensure the Pro Fold’s hinge reliability and the Watch’s battery performance meet its quality benchmarks.

With only weeks until the event, enthusiasts should prepare for a showcase that balances ambitious foldable engineering with polished updates to Google’s bread-and-butter devices. Even if the headline device—the Pixel 10 Pro Fold—isn’t shipping immediately, its delayed launch could signal that Google is committed to ironing out every last crease before it lands in customers’ hands.
